Our Philosophy

Our Approach

Mulberry Learning provides reading, writing, literary analysis, and academic writing programs for students in Grades 4–12. We help students become confident readers, thoughtful thinkers, and effective communicators through engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

Love of Reading

We believe strong readers become strong thinkers. Through engaging novels, meaningful discussions, and thoughtful analysis, students develop a deeper appreciation for literature while strengthening their reading comprehension, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Challenging students to think critically requires practice and patience. At Mulberry Learning, we foster a student’s curiosity by encouraging them to ask questions and to find the answers. We provide a safe space for students to explore their thoughts and interpret texts. Through reading literary works, students learn to inquire about characters, themes, and other elements of a story, helping them thoroughly analyze the deeper meaning of the text. A vital approach to developing critical thinking skills is to ask students open-ended questions that allow them to come to their own conclusions.

Critical Thinking

Back to the Basics

Before teaching students concepts outside of their school curriculum, we ensure they have a complete grasp of the fundamentals. This enables students to have a strong command of the English language by correctly structuring sentences, strengthening their grammar, and developing unified ideas through paragraph writing.

The Ontario Curriculum

The Ontario Curriculum for each grade and subject, Growing Success, and other documents prepared by Ontario’s Ministry of Education are at the core of our individualized lesson plans. We work alongside students and parents to support the education students receive at school. Additionally, we prepare students to approach new material at school with confidence.

Mentorship

While a child’s academic journey is vital to their success, their relationships with adults can help mold them into being happy, kind, caring, and responsible citizens of the world. At Mulberry Learning, we go beyond the lesson plan. We strive to build a meaningful relationship with our students in order to help them through their inevitable struggles. Building a rapport with our students encourages them to become the best versions of themselves. Afterall, a child’s happiness and confidence is at the core of their success.
